The thriving village of Bellingham offers everyday amenities with a variety of shops, post office, cafés, heritage centre, several pubs together with a family-run hotel, banks, garage, library, health centre, chemist and emergency services, gym and an excellent 18-hole golf course. The railway stations at Hexham and Corbridge provide regular cross country services to both Newcastle and Carlisle, which in turn link to main line services to other major UK cities north and south. From Corbridge take the B6529 Stagshaw Road out of the village and join the A68 northbound towards Jedburgh. Follow the A68 for 13.6 miles to Ridsdale and take the left turn, just before the Gun Inn, onto Armstrong Street. Follow this road, bearing left after about 0.6 miles over a cattle grid; continue for a further 2.3 miles, crossing three further cattle grids and passing under a stone arch railway bridge. The Annexe, River Cottage is at the end of the road.
