Low Riding is a beautiful Victorian detached house which stands in mature gardens and is situated close to the centre of Corbridge and all the amenities on offer. The property, which was built in 1870, has been extended and well-maintained by the current owner and retains an abundance of period charm with original sash windows, some with working shutters, and panelled doors. Low Riding has well-proportioned reception rooms that offer bright and flexible living spaces combined with well-tended gardens and off-street parking.
The traditional front door, with transom light above, opens into a hall which gives access to the principal reception rooms. To one side of the hall there is a generously-proportioned dining room which enjoys views over the front garden and provides a fabulous room for formal entertaining. The charming dual-aspect sitting room overlooks the front and side gardens and benefits from a feature fireplace with gas fire. The kitchen/breakfast room, which is located to the rear of the house, is fitted with a range of units, 1½ bowl sink and drainer, gas hob and double electric oven, is plumbed for a dishwasher and has space for a fridge. The kitchen offers ample space for a table and chairs for everyday dining. The delightful garden room is positioned to the side of the property and is accessed from the kitchen and sitting room. Facing south and west it offers an additional, relaxed reception space from which to enjoy the garden at all times of the year and has French doors out to the terrace. A useful utility room is fitted with a good range of units, single sink and drainer, is plumbed for a washing machine and has space for a tumble dryer and door out to the rear. Also on the ground floor is a cloakroom with WC and wash hand basin.
The original staircase with polished wood rail leads from the hall up to a galleried landing which is flooded with natural light from a window on the stairs. There are four generous double bedrooms on the first floor, three of which enjoy elevated views over the mature front garden. Two of these bedrooms benefit from fitted wardrobes. The fourth bedroom, located to the rear, has a window to the west and an additional Velux window and benefits from an extensive eaves storage cupboard. The bedrooms are served by a bathroom and separate shower room. One of the bedrooms and the shower room could easily be combined to create a master bedroom with en-suite facilities if desired. There is also a good-sized linen cupboard accessed from the landing.
Low Riding is located off Aydon Road and has a private gravelled drive that leads to the rear of the house and a generous parking and turning area. There is a range of useful garden outbuildings, one of which has power, together with a WC.
The gardens, which lie mainly to the front and side of the house, are beautifully-tended and predominantly south and west facing. The front garden has a mature beech hedge to the boundary providing both privacy and shelter, manicured lawned areas, mature shrubs and established border planting. A charming gravelled garden, together with a flagstone terrace adjacent to the house, provide areas to sit outside. The lawn continues to the western side of the house and leads to a greenhouse.
