Greystones is situated on the outskirts of Oakwood, in a delightful setting on the northern slope of the Tyne Valley with southerly views towards Hexham and the surrounding farmland. Oakwood is a popular hamlet set in beautiful countryside a short distance from Hexham, with an attractive mix of predominantly stone-built period properties.
Greystones is an attractive, well-proportioned and thoroughly refurbished property which offers flexible, well-presented accommodation that blends modern comforts such as gas-fired central heating, well-appointed kitchen, bathroom and en-suite facilities with a wealth of period charm and character. Traditional features including open fires, sash windows, decorative cornice, dado and picture rails are prevalent throughout the house. The entrance porch opens into an elegant and welcoming reception hall with beautiful original staircase. The principal reception rooms are located to the front with south-facing bay windows which flood the rooms with natural light. The spacious dining room offers a formal entertaining space while the kitchen/breakfast room has ample space for everyday dining. The kitchen is fitted with a range of contemporary hand painted solid maple units with granite work surfaces, double Belfast sink, gas-fired two oven AGA, gas hob, conventional combination oven, grill and microwave together with an integrated Bosch dishwasher. Off the kitchen there is a useful utility room fitted with a door to outside. Also on the ground floor is a study, a cloakroom/WC together with a boiler room/cloaks and store.
The stairs lead up to a spacious landing which gives access to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The master bedroom which has fabulous elevated southerly views benefits from an en-suite shower room. The guest bedroom is also served by its own en-suite shower room and takes advantage of the stunning southerly views. There are three further generously-proportioned double bedrooms which have use of a bathroom.
The property is accessed along a private drive to the side which leads to a courtyard area, converted coach house, small outbuilding and gardener’s WC. Within the coach house there is a double garage, panelled entrance hall and first floor studio with open plan kitchen and living area having the benefit of electricity, water and telephone points. The coach house has previously been used as an office, but lends itself to a variety of alternatives, such as a business opportunity, ancillary accommodation or a standalone residential annex, subject to the necessary consents where applicable.
Externally, to the front of the property there is a traditional colonial style veranda which benefits from stunning views over the Tyne Valley and surrounding area. The formal terraced gardens lie to the front (south) of the house, enclosed by a mix of stone wall and beech hedging. The gardens to the side are laid principally to lawn with flower and shrub borders together with mature Scotts pine and other broad-leaved tree species. Stone paths link along the western gable, to the spacious patio and steps lead down to the terraced gardens.

The nearby historic market town of Hexham offers a full range of day-to-day amenities with supermarkets, a good range of shops and restaurants, leisure centre, doctors’ and dentist surgeries, petrol stations, professional services and a hospital.
