The Property

9 Market Place is a charming, period house in a central position within the village, providing easy access to all amenities, with the additional benefit of river views to the rear. The house has been well-maintained over the years and provides a home that is full of character.

A half-glazed front door opens into the dining room which has fabulous flagstone flooring and a feature inglenook fireplace and a window to the front with original shutters offering views over the Market Place. An inner hall, with cloakroom off, leads through to a kitchen fitted with a good range of units, 1½ bowl sink and drainer, gas hob, double oven, integrated fridge and freezer and is plumbed for a dishwasher. The kitchen has a window to the side of the house and a door leads through to the well-proportioned sitting room which is located to the rear and benefits from glazed French doors that lead out to the terrace. A further door from the sitting room leads to a passage, with under-stairs store cupboard off, that returns to the dining room. Stairs from the hall lead up to the first floor where there is a magnificent drawing room which spans the front of the house and provides a stunning formal room for entertaining. This room has two windows offering elevated views over the Market Place and Church beyond and has a fireplace with painted surround and period cast iron insert.

The master bedroom is positioned to the rear and is fitted with a range of wardrobes. Glazed sliding doors lead to a sun room, with a range of fitted store cupboards and an en-suite shower room. A glazed door leads out to a roof terrace from which there are stunning views over the River Tyne and open countryside beyond. To the second floor there are two further charming bedrooms with exposed beams and sloping ceilings, both have windows to the front. These bedrooms are served by a bathroom fitted with a cream suite comprising bath, wash hand basin, WC and bidet. There is an airing cupboard off the landing.

9 Market Place has a stunning, south-facing terraced garden to the rear which offers several areas for outdoor entertaining and to enjoy the glorious river views and tranquil setting. A flagstone terrace, accessed from the sitting room, offers fabulous panoramic views over the river and beyond. Steps lead down to a private, enclosed low-maintenance gravelled garden which has mature border planting. Both areas provide ideal outdoor spaces and there is a useful store under the terrace. Further terraced gardens are accessed from further shared steps, one is planted with a variety of shrubs and another offers an ideal vegetable garden. The steps continue down to the footpath and River Tyne below. To the side of the house there is a passage that links the hall to the Market Place.
