2 Castle Cottages offers one level accommodation with excellent views of the impressive Kielder Castle, which stands directly opposite.The property, circa 1800’s, has been completely restored and renovated by the current owners to provide contemporary accommodation whilst retaining its original charm and character. It is currently used as a Holiday Let, and is tastefully presented throughout.
The front door opens into an entrance porch leading to the main hallway. The hallway, with laminate wood floor covering, offers access to the sitting room, family bathroom and bedrooms.
A wooden door, with traditional metal door furniture and latch, leads to the sitting room, where a window to the front of the property offers views of Kielder Castle. There is laminate wood flooring, along with a stone inglenook fireplace with wooden mantelpiece, which houses the wood-burning stove, set on a raised stone hearth. There are wooden beams to the ceiling.
Access to the kitchen is from the sitting room. The kitchen, facing the rear of the property, is fitted with a range of white base and wall units with black work surfaces, white splashback tiling and black ceramic tiles to the floor. Appliances include the oven and hob and there is plumbing for a washing machine. Leading through the kitchen, there is space for a dining table, and at the furthest point an area to sit with views out through the French doors which offers access to the garden.
The family bathroom is fitted with a contemporary white suite comprising bath with shower over, wash-hand basin, heated towel rail and WC. There is attractive tiling to the walls and floor and a Velux window.
The main bedroom has two windows with views to the front of the property and benefits from fitted wardrobes, laminate wood floor covering and wooden beams to the ceiling. A further bedroom, also with laminate wood flooring, wooden beams and fitted wardrobes has views to the garden at the rear.
To the front of the property there is a graveled drive with sufficient parking for two cars; the garden is laid to a gravel surface for ease of maintenance. To the rear of the property is an enclosed garden, again mainly laid to gravel along with a patio area to enjoy al-fresco dining. There is a garden shed and the oil store is located at the rear of the property. There is also ramp access through a wooden gate to the side of the property.

Kielder Village is a small hamlet in the North Tyne Valley which lies within both the designated Northumberland International Dark Sky Park and the beautiful Northumberland National Park. The area is a haven for wildlife and the surrounding countryside offers excellent walks and cycling. Kielder Water and Forest Park which provides a multitude of water-based activities, the award-winning Kielder Observatory, Kielder Skyspace and sculpture trail, mountain biking and a multi-purpose track for running and cycling is very accessible. For local facilities, there is village shop, tea-room and village inn. Nearby Falstone has a tearoom and post office and there are two local inns, while the thriving village of Bellingham provides everyday amenities with a variety of shops, post office, cafés, heritage centre and inns together with a family-run hotel, bank, garage, library, health centre, chemist and emergency services, gym and an excellent 18-hole golf course. More comprehensive services such as larger supermarkets, a good range of shops including independent delicatessen, butcher, baker, greengrocer and bimonthly farmers’ market, professional services, leisure/sports centre, cinema, theatre and a hospital are available in Hexham. Newcastle is within easy reach and provides further comprehensive cultural, educational, recreational and shopping facilities.
For the commuter, the A68 and A69 provide excellent access to Newcastle in the east, and Carlisle in the west, and onward access to the A1 and M6. The railway station at Hexham provides regular cross country services to both Newcastle and Carlisle, which in turn link to main line services to other major UK cities north and south. Newcastle International Airport is also within easy reach.
For schooling, there is an excellent first school in Greenhaugh, while Bellingham offers a nursery school together with first and middle schools. Senior schools are available in Hexham and Haydon Bridge with several private day schools in Newcastle and a boarding school is available at Ridley Hall.
